Beautiful terrace for champagne breakfast

Some 45-minute drive to the northeast from Zagreb, you will find Kota winery. This small, family-run winery in Hrvatsko Zagorje in the Croatian Uplands region produces sparkling wines aged in bottles using the classic method, and white wines from Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Riesling grapes.

Their vineyards have a south exposition, with individual wines named after the altitude of the specific vineyard. Sommeliers describe Kota wines as precise, well-structured, fresh, with distinctive aromas, and very lively in the glass.

If you decide to visit them for a tasting session, you will be seated on a terrace in front of a massive wooden house, on top of an impressive cellar. They sometimes make champagne breakfasts, but best call ahead to book your spot.
